State Duma will consider a bill to ban profanity in movies

State Duma meeting on Tuesday will consider on second reading a bill prohibiting the use of profanity in TV and radio, during showings of films in cinemas, public performance of their works of art and literature.

In the first reading of the bill was passed by the Parliament a year ago. The second reading of the deputies made it clear that not allowing distribution containing obscenities copies of phonograms and audiovisual products (except for media production) without special packaging and warning text in the form of the phrase “contains foul language.” Violation of this rule, according to the adjusted bill will cause the same penalties as the use of obscene words. As expected, the bill will be considered in the second reading on March 21.

According to the bill, the Code of Administrative Offences is complemented by a new article, for which violation of the prohibition on the use of swear words may entail a fine of two thousand to 2.5 thousand rubles for citizens from 4 thousand to 5 thousand rubles for officials and from 40 000 to 50 rubles for legal entities.

If you use foul language in the film bill prohibits the issuance of picture distribution certificate. In case of repeated violation the fine is increased up to disqualification for a period of up to one year for officials and entrepreneurs - up to suspension of activity for up to 90 days.
